It’s only one month out until Easter, which means you’ve got just enough time to request work off and make some plans. The Easter break is the perfect excuse to take a mini vacay without having to take many days off work because with Good Friday, Easter Monday and Anzac Day being public holidays you’re able to take 3 days’ leave and actually get 10 days off. SCORE!
So now you’ve bagged the time off, what will you get up to for your Easter break?
1. Camping with friends
Gather the crew, buy some beers and stock up on the hot cross buns. Camping over Easter is a popular tradition for many people purely because it’s cheap, easy and relaxing without needing to travel very far. If you do plan on camping during the Easter period, you’ll want to book a spot now because everywhere is usually booked out well in advance.
2. Byron Bay
With great beaches and even better boutique shopping, Byron Bay is the perfect place for a little getaway. Get some friends together, book an Airbnb and even snag some tickets to Bluesfest while you’re at it. With a lineup consisting of artists like Tash Saltana, Hozier and Julia Stone you won’t be left disappointed.
Book a cheap flight to Sydney and enjoy the shopping, champagne and beaches. Spend the weekend drinking champagne at the Opera Bar, or spend some time relaxing at Bondi Beach. If you want to be adventurous take the ferry over to Taronga Zoo or get into the Easter spirit by popping into the Royal Easter Show for a day of show bags, fairy floss and petting animals.
Melbourne is known for great coffee, amazing street art and delicious foods from all over the globe and you could get there for around $200 return. With every corner you turn you’ll always find something new and exciting so you’ll never find yourself with nothing to do.
5. Tropical Getaway
If you want to escape from reality for a while then book yourself a quick tropical getaway. The best part is you can find great package deals for Fiji and Bali for under $2000pp that will have you sipping cocktails by the pool in under 6 hours.
6. Food Coma
If all else fails and you can’t get any time off or don’t feel like going anywhere you can always slump into a food coma with hot cross buns and chocolate eggs. Since the weather is usually miserable over the Easter break, there’s no need to feel guilty.
Big shoutout to those who will work in retail and hospitality over the Easter weekend, we feel for you. We suggest buying chocolate before the shift, it’s proven to help when you need a break to sit in the backroom and cry.
