The arvos may be darker and the days may be colder but that doesn’t mean you have to cut yourself off from the outside world and hibernate for the next three months. If your only idea of a good time this winter is binging Netflix and smashing chocolate bars in your onesie then you’ve got another thing coming. For those on the Gold Coast we’ve got ideas for all kinds that’ll keep you occupied and entertained until summer rolls back around.

For the borderline alcoholic:

Keen for a few cheeky bevvies but not keen on freezing your ass off at some trendy rooftop bar? Head to the smaller more secluded bars on the coast. Aloha Bar and Soho Place in Broady or Nightjar in Burleigh. These bars are sure to cure the late night cravings without destroying your immune system.

For the sweat sesh addict:

Hot Yoga

Luckily the Gold Coast is a fitness hot spot so it’s not hard to find a spot for a good sweat sesh. You’ve got Hot Yoga Gold Coast in Burleigh that focuses on the traditional Hatha style postures or Elemental Life in Parkwood that offer silent sessions and classes focused on increasing energy, flexibility and mindfulness.

For the Nutella fanatic:

Bucket list desserts

For the sweet tooth, there’s an abundance of places that’ll cure your cravings. Absolutely destroy your diet at Gemelli with their infamous Nutella Bomba which is essentially deep fried pastry teeming with Nutella, enlighten your tastebuds with the Oreogazm from Ze Pickle, or get your fill of salty choc balls from Justin Lane with their deep fried Nutella arancini balls.

For the budding Picasso:

Sip & Paint studios

The perfect duo for winter; getting wine drunk and painting some sick artwork. If this sounds like your kinda good time then there’s no shortage of places. For $60 you can head to Brush & Barrel in Surfers for a unique sip and paint experience, or on the first Thursday of every month Dust Temple has a BYO event where you can paint the night away with your fave glass of wine and live music for $25.

For the beers with the boys buff:

When all you want is to crack a cold one with the boys but it’s too cold for the beach. No fear my friend, the best breweries around the coast are here to save you from heartache.

Get a glimpse of the new Stone & Wood brewery and book in for a beer tour or for something a little more local check out Black Hops or Lost Palms for a day of drinking beers with the boys.

For the Sunday survivor:

Market day

When you’re not hungover, Sunday mornings in winter are the best for cold brews, cheap, vintage finds and organic veg. For the best handmade and designer clothing the Village Markets at Burleigh will not disappoint, while the best organic veg can be found at the Gold Coast Organic Farmers Market. And for the lovers of all things handcrafted and creative you can head to the Beachside Markets along Broadbeach, Burleigh and Coolangatta.

For the dog lover:

Plants, Pups & Pizza Party

The Borrowed Nursery is putting on the ultimate pop up party with Hugo’s Ice creamery, bringing together pups, plants, pizza on the 22nd June. Three of the best things in life all rolled up into one, it seems too good to be true.

For the beauty junkie:

Spa Day

Recharge and treat yo self with a spa day: the ultimate way to relax and keep your skin hydrated during the cold weather and you’re spoilt for choice on the GC. For a day of total relaxation Earth & Skin is your go-to, known for their signature massages, sugaring and eco spray tans. Or for a full weekend of pampering Halcyon House just outside of the GC will do the trick.

For the cold soul:

Winter Solstice

If you’re one of those special kinds of people who enjoy the winter chill then you can embrace it for all its worth at the Winter Solstice Festival in Burleigh. Get your winter loving crew together and celebrate with good vibes, music and food all happening on the shortest day and the longest night of the year on Saturday 22nd June.

For the non-lactose intolerant:

High Tea Cheese

Until August you can get the gang together for a High Cheese day at the Sheraton Resort. Literally cheese everything (cheesecake, cheese scones, slabs of cheese, all things cheese) perfectly paired with a glass or a bottle of wine.

For the hibernating enthusiast:

Netflix and Chill

Or if you actually do just feel like a good Netflix and chill sesh then check out Urban List’s, 13 best movies on Netflix right now for some guidance on what to watch when you’re sick of re-watching old episodes of Brooklyn Nine-Nine.
