Now that the weather is turning up it’s your turn. From sweaty music festivals to the sweetest dessert festivals we’ve narrowed it down to the top 10 events you’ll need to be hitting up on the Gold Coast and Brisbane this month.

1. Big Sound Festival Brisbane

Where: Fortitude Valley

When: Tue 3rd Sep-Fri 6th Sep

Big Sound is back and better than ever with their annual festival in the Valley over four days from Tuesday 3rd to Friday 6th September. This year you’ll be able to get in on the action with over 150 artists spread over 18 stages including sets from Ivey, Kat Edwards, Bad//Dreams and Close Counters. But it’s not just about the artists – they also have a huge lineup of speakers attending, including the Fyre Festival’s very own, Andy King.

2. Lost Festival

Where: South Stradbroke

When: Sat 7th-8th Sep

What better way to ease into the warmer weather than with an island beach party. Lost Festival is a two day event where you’ll experience a boat party, beach festival and a pool party all in the one weekend so you’ll definitely get your fair share of sun. The lineup includes Latour, Noah Devega and Roger Grassi, so you just know it’s going to be a banger of a weekend.

3. Crafted Beer and Cider Fest

Where: Broadbeach, Kurrawa Park

When: Sat 7th Sep

For the best way to ease into September get down to this beachside beer fest this Saturday with over 200 varieties of beer, food trucks, live music and even a bit of beer yoga. You’ll be having one of the best boozy Saturdays of the year, that’s for sure.

4. Matsuri Japanese Festival

Where: Mt Gravatt

When: Sat 7th Sep

For the lovers of sushi, sake, and basically all things Japanese you won’t want to skip out on this one happening Saturday at Mt Gravatt. Immerse yourself in Japanese food, culture and performances without the expensive airfares.

5. Pig Day Out

Where: Burleigh Heads QLD, BBQ Bazaar

When: Sun 8th Sep

Big Day Out but make it tasty.

Pig Day Out is back for another massive event filled with skating, live murals, food sent from the heavens and gigs from Tuka (of Thundamentals), Cakes, Chiggz & Kyle and so many more. Get set for a Sunday sesh like no other.

6. Sweet As – Dessert Festival

Where: South Brisbane

When: Sat 14th- Sun 15th September

Let your inner big kid and secret sweet tooth fly at Brisbane’s new dessert festival, Sweet As. From marshmallow covered donuts to ice cream brownie sundaes, they’ve got all the sugary snacks wrapped up into one small weekend. $5 for early onset diabetes, count me in…

7. Beer Incider Experience

Where: Brisbane Showgrounds

When: Fri 20th Sep-Sat 21st Sep

This one’s for the Brissie crew looking for a beer fest of their own. With over 50+ breweries, music from Hockey Dad, Thundamentals, Ruby Fields plus you can indulge in the best food trucks around from Gnocchi Gnocchi Brothers, Rolling Stone Pizza, Bao Brothers, King Of The Wings and sooo many more. Get set for big weekend of over-indulging and living it up.

8. Brisbane Pride Fair Day

Where: Brisbane City, New Farm

When: Sat 21st Sep

Pride Week kicks off with the annual Pride March and Pride Fair Day on Saturday the 21st and it’s set to be the the biggest community day of the year filled with live music, roving entertainment, good food, good drink and even better company. The lineup is set to be announced soon so keep your eyes peeled and get ready for a day of celebrations.

9. Bavarian Haus Oktoberfest

Where: Bavarian Haus Cavill Ave, Surfers Paradise

When: Fri 27th Sep

Get your steins ready and let your Oktoberfest celebrations begin early at the Bavarian Haus. The newly renovated bar is going to be the best spot for getting your fill of Bavarian culture, good music and of course the finest German food and beers.

10. Listen Out

Where: Brisbane Showgrounds

When: Sat 28th Sep

And for the full-on music festival experience you can’t go past Listen Out. Hitting Brisbane on the 28th of this month, you’ll be seeing sets from Denzel Curry, Diplo, Riton, Flume, Dom Dolla and that’s only just scratching the surface of the lineup. If you love a good sweaty mosh filled with shoulder riding girlfriends wearing Stussy then hit up Listen Out and you won’t be disappointed.
